Where you begin doesn’t matter. Your willingness to start is what counts.
If you’ve been quietly holding the idea of leading a retreat — wondering “Am I ready?” or “Where would I even begin?” — this is your gentle nudge.
Many retreat leaders take their very first step somewhere that feels safe, supportive and just far enough away to feel special. For many, that place has been Curraweena House, a boutique retreat venue nestled in the foothills of the Blue Mountains, just a short drive from Sydney.
Curraweena House has been the first retreat venue for many yoga and wellness leaders — a place to gather a small group, find your feet, and lead with confidence. With a cute heated yoga barn, self‑catering options, a fire place, electric blankets on the beds and an intimate, nurturing setting, it’s designed to support you as much as your retreat guests for a winter retreat.
Curraweena House is also a place that retreat leaders return to, and sometimes many times a year. We love this.
Lis’ Story — Finding Her Feet
Last weekend, Lis led her fifth retreat at Curraweena House — but her journey started small.
For a special birthday, Lis invited a handful of close friends to spend a weekend together, using the time to shape and test her retreat ideas. No pressure. A safe group. Space to explore what felt true to her and her community.
She describes the weekend as magic. That experience gave her the confidence to keep going — and now, retreats are becoming a meaningful part of how she serves her community. She has shaped different retreat offerings including celebrating womanhood and making drums to communicating with plants.
A Gentle Invitation
If you’ve been waiting for the “right time,” consider this your sign.
